My Crafty Journey: Unwrapping Chinese Knotting

Growing up in a family passionate about crafting, I found my love for handmade creations. My dad, a well-known furniture designer, excelled in woodworking and carving. Meanwhile, my mom, with her skilled hands, tailored clothes and crafted cozy knits for my sisters and me.

Early on, I delved into various crafts like sewing, knitting, carving, and Chinese knotting, learning the ropes from my parents. Now, I'm all about Chinese knotting, weaving colorful cords into space-saving crafts. My design inspiration often comes from everyday life, soaking in the diverse cultures around me in the United States.

Eager to turn interesting ideas into reality, I embrace the challenge of complex procedures and learning new weaving techniques.

One of my favorites? A cute strawberry crafted from knots, holding extra meaning as my name sounds like "strawberry" in Chinese. Beyond personal joy, I want to share the crafting journey with fellow artists, exchanging ideas, and preserving Chinese crafts while drawing inspiration from different cultures.

For DIY beginners, my advice is simple: watch closely and don't fear mistakes. Each stumble is a chance to improve, leading to even better creations in the next try.
